Upper Red Lake is 120,000 acres , 40% (48,000 acres) falls under the jurisdiction of the State of Minnesota. Red Lake is the largest freshwater lake fully contained within the boundaries of a single state in the entire United States.

The fishing is second to none on Upper Red Lake. It is home to walleye, perch, crappie and northern pike. For those interested in fishing, keep in mind that Upper Red Lake has a slot limit in place for walleye and pike. Please see the MN DNR website for the latest regulations.  The slot limit has helped to preserve Upper Red Lake as a great fishing destination, particularly to those interested in catching huge numbers of walleye or a trophy pike! Upper Red Lake beauty and tranquility are unforgettable. This is the perfect place for your next Minnesota vacation!
